The Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT) is part of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), which is a non-profit legal entity, organised under private law, founded in March 2000, under the auspices of the General Secretariat of Research and Innovation (GSRI) of the Greek Ministry of Development. CERTH-HIT’s mission is to conduct comprehensive transport research and provide valuable support for policy- and decision-making across all transport modes. CERTH-HIT specializes in advanced transport modelling and optimization, with a strong focus on multimodal networks and traffic management. CERTH-HIT possess extensive expertise in traffic management, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS). Other research areas in which CERTH-HIT specializes include transport data analytics, traffic simulation, freight transport and logistics, public transport and sustainable urban mobility.
